Butts
Road Intermediate is the home of a dedicated and energetic
staff, committed and involved parents, and excited and
enthusiastic students. All of these combine to make us one of
Chesapeake's most successful elementary schools.
Our
instructional program focuses on providing appropriate
challenges for all of our students and successful instruction
in the Virginia Standards of Learning. The teachers use
a variety of new and creative techniques, as well as
time-tested strategies to ensure success in the core subject
areas of mathematics, English, social studies, and science.
Technology instruction is supplied by a state-of-the-art
computer lab and supported by the use of classroom computers.
The PTA
provides support for our instructional programs through the
purchase of materials for technology, the media center, and
general classroom instruction, and through volunteer programs
to support each of these areas. They also provide a
great deal of assistance with school appearance, school
spirit, and student and staff morale.
The students
are actively involved in school activities and represented
formally by our SCA. Positive reinforcement programs help us
to emphasize the good decisions that students make throughout
the school year. Our students respond to these programs by
being good role models for each other and by supporting
charitable organizations in our community.
It is a
pleasure to serve the Butts Road community as the principal of
this school. As a member of this community I am continually
impressed by the quality of our students and the involvement
of the parents. If you have any questions about our school,

our administrators and possibly take a tour of the facility.
