Shonda Pittman-Windham, Program Administrator
It is indeed a pleasure to serve as the Program Administrator at the Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology (CCST). As a former Career and Technical Education teacher, I know first-hand the impact that our programs have on the future success of students. With the support of my loyal staff, the seven high schools in Chesapeake, and the business community, my goal is to ensure that the programs at CCST will continue to provide students with competitive career opportunities and/or college readiness.
As a recent graduate of Walden University's doctoral program, I believe in lifelong learning and the power of education. I received my undergraduate degree from Elizabeth City State University and graduate degree from Norfolk State University. Likewise, I began my teaching career in 1998 and have since served as a business teacher, Technology Integration Specialist, Assistant Principal and the Supervisor for Career and Technical Education.
I am proud of the opportunities that CCST provides to students in our division - opportunities for rigorous learning, instruction in specialized fields, hands-on training, industry certifications and real world work experiences. Students leave here with all the tools necessary to be skilled employees, but most importantly, life-long learners.
Richard Babb, Supervisor
I am a lifelong Chesapeake resident having graduated from Great Bridge High and the Radio Broadcasting program at CCST in 1984. After graduating from Virginia Wesleyan College, I taught English at Great Bridge Junior High and High School for a combined eight years. I earned a Master’s degree in Education from ODU in 1997. I served in several administrative roles beginning in 1995 ranging from Telecommunications Coordinator to Supervisor of Broadcast Communications to Supervisor of Libraries and Media Services. I came to CCST as Supervisor just this year.
As a graduate of Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology, I can say with certainty that the programs offered at CCST create opportunities that impact students’ lives well beyond the years they spend at this center. It is my goal to help enhance current programs offered here and to help optimize the opportunities for students to gain skills that will help them thrive throughout their adult lives.
