Hello Parents, Students, and the Community

Students wishing to attend CCST should obtain an application from their high school career and technical education counselors. Applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of representatives from CCST and the seven Chesapeake high schools. Students earn three credits for each program successfully completed with the opportunity to earn a fourth credit through an internship experience. CCST provides an education that works; we teach skills for life -- producing the productive citizens for our communities.

History

The Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology (CCST) is the oldest career and technical school in the Commonwealth, established 1967. It was also the first and now one of two secondary schools in the Commonwealth with its own student-operated radio station -- WFOS-FM 88.7FM. The Center serves students from each of the seven high schools in Chesapeake. Students have an opportunity to enroll in one of the 28 career and technical programs offered at CCST. Students attend the Center either in the morning or afternoon. Bus transportation is provided.

The Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology was built in 1967 at a cost of $1.5 million. At the time it was named the Chesapeake Technical Center and was the first trade school in Virginia for high school students. Now with 39 years of experience, CCST offers traditional and cutting-edge technology courses.
