CELL PHONES
Recently we have noticed that many students are bringing cell phones to school.Please remind your child(ren) that per the STUDENT CONDUCT POLICY & GUIDELINES for Parents and Students, students shall not possess, use, or carry on their person, beepers, cellular phones, or other portable communication devices during the school day.

CHESAPEAKE PARENT RESOURCE CENTER 

The CPS Parent Resource Center has planned several workshops for parents during the school year.Parents are encouraged to register for workshops by calling the Parent Resource Center at 482-5923.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANNING 

Crestwood Middle School is looking for volunteers to serve on our Site Improvement Planning Action Teams.These teams are an important part of the school improvement planning process used by our school to develop its long-range strategic plan.If you are interested in serving on one of these teams, please contact our office staff at 494-7560.This is the time to TAKE ACTION… let your voice be heard and help us continue to MAKE YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL and our SCHOOL DIVISION BETTER!!!

SAFETY 

Visitors – Please note that all visitors must enter the building via the MAIN ENTRANCE and MUST SIGN-IN and wear a VISITORS PASS at all times.Your child’s safety is our main concern.Please understand that we will have our security guard or a member of our staff, escort you back to the main office in order to obtain a visitors pass if you do not have one while in the building.
Sex Offenders – All volunteers and visitors to our school will be checked against the Virginia Sex Offender Registry.Please make sure that when you are visiting our building that you bring an appropriate form of (legalgovernment accepted) identification.
Release of Students– Students will not be permitted to leave the campus with any person other than those individuals listed on the school information provided upon enrollment and /or during the collection of information at the beginning of the term.Unfortunately, we have not had the opportunity to meet and get to know each child’s family members… thus a valid form of identification will be required at all times when picking up any child who attends Crestwood Middle School.WE PUT YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY FIRST!!!

Asbestos Management Plan– The Chesapeake Public Schools, in compliance with Section 763.84 of 40 CFR Part 763, commonly known as the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Act (AHERA), has prepared for public review an asbestos management plan for each school in the city of Chesapeake.This plan contains information on the presence of any asbestos and the response action developed by the school system to monitor and maintain said material. The asbestos management plan for your school is available in the main office.

MEDICATION 

Please remember that because of the inherent dangers and misuse of drugs, the parent/guardian or another adult designated by the parent will be responsible for delivering the medication to the principal or school nurse under the regulations established via the Chesapeake Public Schools.If you should have any questions regarding this established policy, please refer to page 16 in the Student Conduct Policy Guidelines, which were sent home on the first day of school.

If you should need to speak with the administration or your child’s teacher, please call the school to set up an appointment.Our main focus is SAFETY and INSTRUCTION thus we may not be available if you do not schedule an appointment prior to visiting.While we will do all we can to serve you and your child… we may not be available if you come to school without making prior arrangements.
Please remember that our main purpose is to prepare your child for a BRIGHT and SUCCESSFUL FUTURE. We are here to serve!
