The mission of Deep Creek Central Elementary School is to provide each student with a strong academic foundation, instill the desire to learn; and develop good citizens through a diversified and challenging curriculum in a safe, nurturing environment with parent and community involvement.

Safe Route Survey

Chesapeake Public Schools is working on a Safe Routes to School Grant to support and enhance bicycle and pedestrian education and promote opportunities and incentives for walking and biking programs in our schools. The grant is offered by the Virginia Department of Transportation and is called the Safe Routes to School Activities and Programs Plan. As a requirement of the grant, we need to collect parent feedback regarding their thoughts about children walking and biking to school. The survey that we will be using for this purpose comes from the National Center for Safe Routes to School’s data system. The surveys will only be available for a 10 day window in March (16th-26th).

Citywide Reading Textbook Adoption
The Chesapeake Public Schools Reading and Language Arts Department is seeking parental/community input for the citywide adoption of the new K-5 reading and language arts textbooks. Citizens are invited to examine the proposed textbooks and provide feedback. Textbooks are on display at all elementary schools, as well as the Central Library, Indian River Library, Russell Memorial Library, South Norfolk Library, and the Parent Resource Center. Parent/community review forms will be available at each site for citizens to comment on the materials. Additionally, the review form is also available at this link.
