The Deep Creek team invites all students who maintain a 2.0 grade average and are passing 5 of 6 classes to join. The season extends from the fall semester through February. A district tournament is held in March and the top Chesapeake team participates in the Tidewater Academic Challenge Tournament.
Weekly matches are played between Chesapeake high school teams and with Lakeland and Nansemond River in Suffolk. During the season, the Deep Creek team practices after school on Mondays and matches are played on Wednesdays. We have a starting team and a backup team for substitutions. Team members answer questions on English, math, history, and science in five rounds of match play.

The Debate Team is coached by Mrs. Barbara Singleton-Seals.
Students who meet VHSL qualifications for competition may participate in debate. The competitions are held from October through April. Students may compete in either Policy debate or Lincoln-Douglas debate. Tryouts are held by Mrs. Singleton-Seals, English teacher at Deep Creek High.

The SCA of Deep Creek provides the leadership for many of the service projects and students activities. SCA homeroom representatives are selected in the fall by homeroom teachers. Deep Creek High School organizes an event to offer our students a safe, alcohol and drug-free event after the Senior Prom. The entire event is made possible through generous donations from the faculty, school administration, community organizations, parents and businesses.

Cooperating Hampton Roads Organizations for Minorities in Engineering (CHROME) was established at Deep Creek High School in 1990. Its mission is to increase the number of underrepresented minorities and females entering engineering, mathematics, science and related technical fields. While CHROME targets females and underrepresented minorities, CHROME is not exclusionary.

The co-curricular activities of the FBLA provide an awareness of business opportunities, improve leadership and instill a sense of responsibility toward school and community. The FBLA is a business-oriented organization designed for students who are enrolled in business classes. Once a month (second Tuesday), the organization meets during each class period.

The Deep Creek chapter of Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) serves to accomplish the goals of the state and national organizations against drunk driving. The main objective is to raise awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. Students participate in "student friendly" public awareness programs including speakers, peer role-modeling and alternative activities that exclude the use of alcohol.
The chapter holds monthly business meetings as well as special events that are open to other members of the student body. Membership is open to join anytime during the year. Payment of dues of $5.00 and 85% attendance at meetings is required to maintain membership in the organization.

The TSA is a club open to any student who has ever taken a technology course. The club fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design and engineering. Members apply and integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts through co-curricular actives, competitive events, and related programs. A student must earn a minimum of 25 points to be awarded an extracurricular academic letter. The number of points awarded is listed below in a Table of Points. All point awards must result from participation outside regular school hours. A student must earn the 25 points between grades 10 and 12 in a consecutive three year period. The exact number of points awarded is at the discretion of the sponsor. A student must enter and earn his points from at least two of the following fields: Chesapeake Challenge Team, Debate Team, Drama Team, Forensics Team, Literary/Art Magazine Staff, Newspaper Staff, Yearbook Staff.
A file of cards on students involved in various activities will be maintained by the Student Activities Sponsor. It is the responsibility of the student to pick up a card and take it to the sponsors of the activities for the recording of points. The sponsor will return the card to the Student Activities Sponsor when they have completed recording the points.
