Guidance Department

Guidance Counselor

The Chesapeake School Board affirms that parents are the student's first teachers and that the public schools should serve to strengthen family and parental support.  Pursuant to the Standards of Quality, guidance and counseling services will be made available to all students enrolled in Chesapeake Public Schools in academics, career choices and personal/social situations.

Parents may review materials to be used in guidance and counseling programs at their child's school by making a request tot he principal or their child's guidance counselor.  The principal or guidance counselor will schedule and appointment for the parent to review the materials.  Parental consent is required for structured individual or small group multi-session counseling the the personal/social domain.  Parental permission is not required for short duration personal/social counseling which is needed to maintain order, discipline, or a productive work environment, or to assist a child in crisis.  Parents are encouraged to contact the school principal or guidance counselor regarding the guidance and counseling program.  You can contact the Deep Creek High Guidance Department at 558-5300.
