Mission Statement:
The mission of
Hickory High School is to prepare all students with the knowledge and skills
needed to become productive, responsible, and innovative members of the global
community by providing a quality education and extra-curricular activities
within a safe learning environment through partnerships among parents, teachers,
and community.
A Note from the Principal:
Hickory High School, established in 1996, is home to over 1,899
students. The "hawk" is the school mascot and
school
colors are teal, black, white, and gray. Offering a full range of academic and
vocational courses, Hickory High School also provides numerous advanced
placement classes and a diversity of technology classes in state-of-the-art
technology laboratories. The technology program at Hickory High School was
designated as the "Technology Program of the Year" for Virginia for the year
2002-2003. In addition, the band, orchestra, and choral programs have
established themselves as a Blue Ribbon Program of Excellence in the state of
Virginia. As a result of continued success on the Virginia Standards of Learning
tests, Hickory High School is designated as a fully accredited school in the
state.
With an enthusiastic staff of teachers, guidance counselors, media specialists,
and administrators, Hickory High School offers over 50 clubs and organizations
ranging from the dance team to the literary magazine. The athletic program at
Hickory represents a broad diversity of sports.
Hickory High School's spirited student body embraces each day in a positive way
as the students, parents, staff, and community "soar towards excellence."
