Dear Eighth Grade Students and Parents,

During the spring athletic season 8th grade students are allowed to try out for three Junior Varsity sports. They are boys JV soccer, girls JV soccer, and JV baseball. The tryout dates for these sports are usually at the end of February. There will be announcements made at Hickory High School as well as Hickory Middle School. In order to try out, students must turn in the following items to the athletic director’s office at Hickory High School:

1. A completed VHSL sports physical dated May 1 or after of the previous year. A Chesapeake Middle School league form will be accepted under the following circumstances:

  •  The date must still be after May 1.
  • A signed and completed copy of page 1 and 4 of the VHSL physical form must be attached to the CMSL physical form. (If getting a copy of your physical from the middle school, please allow time for them to get request and make copy.)

2. A copy of the student/athlete’s first semester report card. All student/athletes must have a 2.0 grade point average to try out. Additionally, the student/athlete must go to the following website and register:
www.hickory-ar.rschooltoday.com
Please do not give any items to coaches. They can be dropped off at Hickory High or mailed to Hickory High School, ATTN: athletic director. The information may also be an email attachment in an email to Kevin Cole at kevin.cole@cpschools.com. All three items must be complete in order for an 8th grade student to try out for a Hickory High School JV sport. If you have any questions please call Kevin J. Cole CMAA Athletic Director Hickory High School at 757-421-4295.
