Welcome to the IRMS Parent Teacher Student Association
CHESAPEAKE COUNCIL PTA
It Is All About You!
Last year IRMS PTSA (Parent-Teacher-Student Association) really put our best foot forward to support the Teachers, Administrators, and Staff. However, our mission is "To make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children." Our goal this 2016-2017 school year is to connect the community, teachers, and you the parents while promoting the growth, education, and well-being of our students at Indian River. There are many ways that you as a parent can help support making your student’s potential realistic:
- Through fundraisers. With the raised funds we are able to help buy equipment and supplies for the school. The “2015-2016 PTSA Overview” shows exactly what we financially supported because of your participation in the fundraiser.
- Through volunteering. Just by eating lunch with your child is supporting their education. Other volunteer opportunities arise throughout the year. If volunteering is something that sounds like you can do, please complete an “Intent to Volunteer” Form and turn it into the Main Office and an Executive Board Member will contact you.
- Become a member of IRMS PTSA. You as a parent show Congress that you support Indian River Middle School and your student’s education. According to www.childtrends.org, “Students with parents who are involved in their school tend to have fewer behavioral problems and better academic performance, and are more likely to complete high school than students whose parents are not involved in their school.” The cost to become a member of PTSA is $5.00 per person and anyone can be a member. Complete the membership form and turn it in with your payment to the Main Office.
- Attend content nights. “Safety Night at the River”, which is an evening of being educated on the latest information regarding gangs, drugs, and internet safety is just one of the many content nights that you can show support for your child’s education.
There are many opportunities for any and every one to get involved with! To sum it up, we value your participation and need your support in order to make this year a successful one. Asking questions or voicing your opinion continues to help us to become better at serving Indian River Middle School students, parents, staff, and teachers. We are sincerely looking forward to seeing and getting to know you more this 2016-2017 school year!
