Absence Policy:
In the event your child will be absent from school, please call the school attendance line and leave a message on the answering machine, preferably before 7:30 a.m. The school is required to call the home of any absent child whose parents or guardians have not contacted the school.
Excused and Unexcused Absences:
The following are considered "excused absences":
* Student illness
* Severe illness in the family
* Death in the family
* Religious holiday
* Exposure to contagious disease and quarantined by the doctor
* Absences for any other reasons than those stated above must have advanced permission of the principal or the assistant principal. Such absence requests must be submitted in writing prior to the absence stating the reason and time of the absence. Examples include - school related trip or activity, doctor or dental appointment, or subpoena to court.
* Truancy, cutting class, oversleeping, vacations, missing the school bus, and car trouble are not excused absences.
Tardy Policy:
Students who are tardy to school must report directly to the office with their parent or a note stating why they are tardy. They must obtain an admittance slip in order to enter their classroom. A record is kept of students who are tardy. For extensive absences or tardies, a letter will be sent home at the end of the month informing parents of their child's absences and/or tardies for that month. Students arriving at 11:00am or later will be counted as absent for that day.
