Local Unit Goals 2007-2008
This year presents us with a new set of challenges as well as new opportunities. Paul Joseph is our new principal and with him comes a renewed sense of enthusiasm for change and involvement. As with last year, I want us to stay focused on ways to get more involvement from our parent base and improve both our level of membership in that group as well as attendance at general meetings.
We are a PTSA and as a consequence I would like to see a marked improvement in the membership of the student body as well as a broader involvement in PTSA activities from the student constituency.
last year we initiated cooperative general meeting programs with both the Art department and the Music department. My focus this year is to continue those relationships and make those programs truly cooperative as opposed to simply add-ons. In this same vein, we should exploit the fine culinary program at Oscar Smith and build a general meeting around that program as well.
With monies donated by Dr. Andrejco we have the beginnings of an increased scholarship fund. I want to raise enough funds to add a third scholarship and possibly increase the stipend for all or offer a stepped grant.
Finally, with Llewellyn Swain moving into the role of Corporate Sponsor Chair we have an opportunity to broaden and improve the visibility of Oscar Smith High School in the community.

Membership
The most important part of the PTSA is its membership. The faculty has achieved one hundred percent membership; our next challenges are student and parent membership. It costs only five dollars to join and support Oscar Smith. Please fill out a membership form the next time you drop by the main office. back to top

Oscar Smith collects Farm Fresh receipts during the school year. We are able to purchase additional supplies for our school and students with points earned.
