The Foreign Language Department

The study of a foreign language is considered an important part of a student's education. Spanish, French, German, and Latin are a part of the Western Branch curriculum. Four basic skill areas are emphasized in language study: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The understanding and appreciation of the cultural bases of a language are explored at all levels of study. Four semesters of study are usually necessary if one wishes to be able to use a language functionally.

The Chesapeake Public School System is an equal opportunity school system.
