The WIN Program
(Why Instruction
is Needed)
A FREE AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM
The School Board of Chesapeake has adopted a policy requiring participants in Virginia High School League sanctioned activities to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in order to be eligible to participate in VHSL sanctioned activities. Study sessions have been developed as a method to assist VHSL participants in meeting the requirements. Study halls will be mandatory at Western Branch High School for VHSL participants who are in jeopardy of failing to meet the 2.0 requirement or who fall below the requirement. Even though the program is targeting VHSL participants, all students who would like extra help are invited to participate. Bus transportation is provided for all who attend the session.
The probationary period is defined as the semester following a semester in which a participant falls below the 2.0 GPA requirements and meets the VHSL eligibility requirements. A student who does not comply with the VHSL Scholarship Rule or other VHSL eligibility rules as found in Section 28 of the Virginia High School League Handbook will be ineligible to participate.
