Cheerleading Header
The Western Branch cheerleaders have a reputation for being one of the best squads in the district of Chesapeake. They were district champions in 2002 and 2003. They have placed second, third and fourth in the region and have also competed at the state level. The WB cheerleading program also prides itself in developing cheerleaders who are competitive at the college level. Many Western Branch Alumni cheerleaders either have or are currently cheering at schools such as East Carolina, Old Dominion, Virginia Commonwealth, Viginia Tech, Radford, Christopher Newport, Liberty, North Carolina State, University of Virginia, and James Madison.

Varsity Wrestling Cheerleaders

Season Dates: Begins Nov. 12 (matches winter sports season)

Additional info: Parent meeting - Nov. 8, 2007 in the gym 7:00 PM

Tryout Location / Times / Requirements: Practice Dates: Nov 13-14, 4 - 5:45 PM
Tryout Date: Nov. 15, Final Cuts 4 - 5:15 PM

You MUST have a current VHSL physical form, a copy of your last report card, your completed Cheerleading Information Form, and you signed Rules and Regulations Agreement Form to be eligible to tryout! The current physical must be in before practice on Nov. 13, 2007. The other forms should be turned in by Friday, Nov. 9, 2007. No Exceptions!

If you make the squad, be ready to practice on Friday, Nov. 16 from 4 - 5:45 PM. Please be prepared to bring a check to that practice for the other items needed.

Please be aware that wrestling matches can last as late as 9:30 PM. We will also be participating at some Saturday tournaments.

The following are some of the thing the judges will be looking for at tryouts:

  • Motions - extremely sharp and controlled; correct placement
  • Jumps - pointed toes, good height, straight legs, solid landing
  • Enthusiasm - confident and energetic, smiles; show spirit and enthusiasm
