We hope that you will be able to take advantage of the Summer "PopUp Library" promotion. For the third summer in a row, all 521 high quality eBooks in our collection can be used by all children, free of charge, for the month of July.

It is important for children to keep reading over the summer break, so every child, whether or not their school or family is a subscriber, can enjoy the high-quality, professionally narrated eBooks completely free of charge.

Here is a simple, printable B&W flyer for you to post on your refrigerator this summer.

and we hope it ends up on all your refrigerators while the PopUp Library is open!

Remember, all books are free for all children from July 1 through July 31. THis is an opportunity for parents and educators to sample the eBooks. And, if you are involved with a Summer Reading program, know that this resource is available. School Library Journal called this collection: "…gorgeously designed pre-K through grade 8 eBooks…Tightly curated for exceptional quality, the collection is about 60 percent highly illustrated nonfiction, and all titles are simultaneous-access licensed, making a subscription to StarWalk Kids a solid way to support Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for reading and writing."

StarWalk Kids is designed to meet the needs of the modern, differentiated classroom. These eBooks work on practically any device with Internet access and support for sound and video, students can log in at school or at home, and multiple users can access the same book at the same time. Because really, what is the point of telling a child that he or she needs to wait two weeks or more to read an eBook that she is excited about right now?
Thank you, once again, for trying this product and spreading the word about the free PopUp Library.

Bus Pick Up the First Day of School

Chesapeake Public Schools strives to have transportation arranged for all students by the first day of school. Please enroll all new students by August 4th to prevent possible transportation delays during the first week of school.

Chesapeake Public Schools implemented Peachjar eflyers in September of 2014, nearly eliminating the use of paper flyers, newsletters, and PTA updates that were previously sent home with our students. This "green" initiative has saved paper, reduced dollars in copy costs, and embraced innovative technology. We would like to solicit your feedback on the Peachjar eflyer service.

Parent Drop Off

Dear Parents:

Please be reminded, if you wish to drop off your child in the morning, you may join in line and follow the pattern with the rest of the parents. Cars should not enter the parking lot until 7:24 a.m. The unloading of cars will begin promptly at 7:25 a.m.

If you wish to escort your child into the building beginning at 7:25 a.m., you may park at the side and walk into the building. THERE IS NO STUDENT DROP OFF AT THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL OUR STUDENTS.

Please note, we strongly encourage you to place your child on the bus to minimize the chance of late arrival.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Jataune Jones

Parties/Special Snack Days

Due to the number students with food allergies at WBI, homemade foods are highly discouraged and must be pre-approved by your teacher prior to being brought to school for distribution.  If homemade goods have been pre-approved by your teacher, they are only allowed in the classroom.  Any treat distributed in the lunchroom MUST be store bought.

Do NOT drop them off on the side of the building, and please do NOT pull into a parking spot in the front of the building. During drop-off hours, if you wish to escort your child in, park on the side of the building and walk your child in.  ~Thank you for your cooperation.
