Thank
you for expressing an interest in working for Chesapeake Public Schools.
It is very important that you follow instructions and submit all the
information and documentation requested with your application. Incomplete
applications will only remain on file for one year from the date of
receipt. Completed applications are only valid for two years before
re-submission is required. Before submitting your application, please
check the general and specific requirements for the position to which your
are applying. It is the responsibility of the applicant to check on the
status of the application. Please note: Because classroom teachers work on a ten-month basis and are not at their respective schools during the summer months, it is important that when listing teachers as references you use their home addresses and not their school addresses, as failure to do this will slow down your application process for an indefinite period of time. Specific Requirements for Positions Teacher/Administrative Applicants - Mail additional information to the Human Resources Department:
- Transcript
- PRAXIS Scores
- Virginia License
A human resources administrator will screen completed applications. Those recommended for screening interviews will be notified by mail.
Teacher Assistants - Mail additional information to the Human Resources Department:
- Proof of education/college credit
A human resources administrator will screen completed applications. Those recommended for screening interviews will be notified by mail.
Clerical - Mail additional information to the Human Resources Department:
- Proof of education/college credit
A human resources administrator will screen completed applications. Those recommended for clerical testing will be notified by mail.
Cafeteria Workers, Bus Assistants, Custodians, Groundskeepers, and Bus Drivers: Cafeteria Workers - Mail additional information to the Human Resources Department:
- Food Handlers Card issued by the Virginia Department of Health
- A negative tuberculin test (less than 12 months old)
Bus Assistants, Custodians, and Groundskeepers Applicants - Mail additional information to the Human Resources Department:
- A negative tuberculin test (less than 12 months old)
Bus Driver Applicants - Mail additional information to the Human Resources Department:
- A copy of your driving record obtained from the Division of Motor Vehicles
- A negative tuberculin test (less than 12 months old)
A human resources administrator will screen completed applications for cafeteria workers, bus assistants, custodians, groundskeepers, and bus drivers. After screening and approval, applicants will be notified to attend a required orientation.
Substitute Teachers - Mail additional information to the Human Resources Department:
- Proof of education (college credit/transcript)
- A negative tuberculin test (less than 12 months old)
A human resources administrator will screen completed applications. After screening and approval, applicants for substitute teacher positions will be notified to attend a required orientation. Substitute card will be issued to those who qualify. You must have a substitute card in order to work.
