GED
Testing Program 2010:
General
Information
The purpose of the GED test is to enable persons who have not graduated from high school to demonstrate attainment of abilities normally associated with the completion of a high school program of study. By achieving satisfactory scores on the GED test, adults may earn a GED Certificate. The certificate may qualify the individual for:
● Admission to college or more advanced education opportunities.
● Induction into the United States Armed Forces based on satisfactory completion of the GED tests or the pre-established military cut score.
● Employment or promotional opportuni- ties on the job.
What You Should Know about the GED Tests:
The GED tests consist of a battery of five
comprehensive examinations:
- Writing Skills
- Social Studies
- Natural Sciences
- Language Arts
- Mathematics
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and not enrolled in a public or private school.
Reasonable accommodations are available upon request to individuals who qualify.
Registration/Orientation Information
If you have internet access, you can pre-register for your GED Testing at www.GED123.org. Complete the required information, print out the pre-registration
information, and bring it with you to the orientation.
Bring two forms of identification. One form must be a photo ID. Proper identification is required in order to officially register for the GED tests.
The cost of the GED test is $45.00, payable only in the form of a MONEY ORDER or CERTIFIED BANK CHECK made out to Chesapeake Public Schools.
NO CASH ACCEPTED.
Contact the Adult and Continuing Education
Department at 482-5680 to inform them of your
desire to register for the GED test.

Requirements for Adult GED Classes:
|
|
Participant must
be...
- at least 18 years or older
and not enrolled in a public or private school
OR
- a home schooled student
between the ages of 16-18 with signed documentation by the
superintendent/designee certifying the completion of an
approved instructional program
OR
- a student released from
compulsory attendance by the local school board
OR
- a student in an approved
alternative education program who has been granted
permission to take the GED by the superintendent/designee.

GED Testing - What you must know:

Orientation Dates & Times
All interested persons must attend the GED orientation before
taking the official tests. The orientation process will last
approximately 1.5 hours. All necessary forms will be completed
at this time.
After
attending the GED Orientation you must:
ˇ Report
to the GED Testing Center located at the Educational Services
Center, 369 South Battlefield Blvd. (at the corner of
Battlefield and Mt. Pleasant Road), enter the building from the
rear, and go directly to the GED Testing Center.
ˇ Be
prompt! Report to
the testing center no later than 7:30 a.m. for Saturday testing.
For weekday testing, report to the testing center at 4:30
p.m.
NO
ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO ENTER THE TESTING AREA ONCE INTAKE IS
COMPLETED.

Bring
a bag lunch for the lunch break.
(Drink and snack machines are available.)
●
Contact
the Adult and Continuing Education office at least twenty-four
hours in advance of the scheduled test if you are unable to
attend.

GED Testing Information
All GED tests take place in the Official GED Testing Center, located at the Educational Services Center. Testing candidates are required to present a picture ID to gain entry to the testing center.
Please arrive for morning GED testing promptly.
For partial GED testing, please inquire about dates and times of specific tests.
Reasonable accommodations are available upon request to individuals who qualify.

Receiving
GED Scores
If you have internet access, you can obtain your GED scores at
www.GED123.org in twenty-four to forty-eight hours after taking the official GED test. To do this, you must use the assigned access code. If you do not have access to the internet, you may receive your scores by contacting the Adult and Continuing Education office at 482-5680.
