Children of full-time Baptist pastors can receive the Pastor’s Dependent Scholarship of $1,000 per academic year.

To be eligible for merit scholarships, applications for admission must be received by January 2.  These scholarships range from $1,000 - $32,000.  Scholarships are awarded based on high school grades and SAT/ACT scores OR an application for special awards (see below).

Patricia Cornwell Scholarship - $10,000
Awarded to one or two students in the freshman class.  Students are considered who have exceptional ability in writing.  You must submit a statement on the role of writing in your life, plus ten pages of creative writing by January 2.

Romare Howard Bearden Scholarship - $10,000
Awarded to one or two students in the freshman class.  Students must be African American students who demonstrate exceptional ability and promise as studio artists.  Students must be nominated by high school art faculty by December 1, and portfolios are due by January 15.

W. Olin Pucket Schoalrship - $10,000
Awarded to one student in the freshman class.  Students must have strong academic credentials and be planning on pursuing a career in medicine or the sciences.  Interested students must submit a letter stating interests and qualifications.

Williams Challenge Scholarship - $10,000.
Awarded to one student in the freshman class.  Applicants must be considering the ministry or other church-related vocations and must submit a letter stating interests and qualifications.

Music Scholarships - $2,000 - $9,000
Awarded to seven or more students who demonstrate outstanding promise in the field of music.  Students must submit tapes by January 15.  Finalists are required to audition on campus in the spring.

BB&T Scholarship - $5,000
Awarded to 2 students in the freshman class who express an interest in the area of business and business related careers.  Students must submit an essay discussing their interest, objectives, and experience in the business world.

Pepper Visual Art Scholarship - $5,000
Awarded to one student in the freshman class who demonstrates outstanding promise in the field of visual art.  Applicants must submit a portfolio of slides and/or photographs by February 1.

Julius Dobson Neely and Joseph Dobson Scholarship - $5,000
Awarded to one student in the freshman class.  Students who express an interest in Latin as a field of study and who have shown significant success in the field should apply.  Applicants must submit a letter discussing their interest in the award and their experiences and involvement in the study of Latin.

Staley Scholarship - amount varies
Awarded to students interested in pursuing a career in the ministry.  Applicants should submit a letter stating their interests and qualifications.

First Union Teaching Scholarship – amount varies
Awarded to students interested in pursuing a teaching career in secondary education.  Students must submit a letter indicating their interest in the award and their vision for a career in secondary education.

Presidential Scholarships - $2,000 - $3,500
These scholarships are awarded to approximately ¼  of the entering freshman class.  The awards are based on high school course selection, SAT/ACT scores, and class rank and/or grades.  No separate application in required.  The admissions office will determine the recipients.

Engineering Program Scholarships - $2,000
Four scholarships of $2,000 annually are awarded to outstanding students admitted into Elon’s Dual-Degree Engineering Program.

Fellows Scholarships - $1,000 - $6,000
Scholarships available to students who want to experience college beyond the normal scope of classes and notes.  Applications may be obtained from Elon’s Office of Admissions.  All applications are reviewed as they are received and finalists for each program are invited to attend the Fellows Competition Day in March.  For more information, contact the Office of Admissions.

Performing Arts Scholarships - $500 - $3,500
Students majoring in theatre arts or music theatre may apply for talent-based scholarships which are renewable for an additional three years.  For more information, contact the Department of Performing Arts at 336-278-5600.

Music Scholarships - $200 - $2,500 plus $7,500 Fletcher Award
Students majoring in music, music education or music performance may compete for talent and need based scholarships on the basis of audition/interview.  Band and choral scholarships are available to both music and non-music majors.  For more information, contact the Department of Music at 336-278-5600.

ROTC – Four Year Award
The U.S. Army offers four-year scholarships which cover the cost of tuition and books, plus $100 per month for personal expenses.  The scholarships are awarded according to merit, not financial need.  In addition, Elon provides all four-year ROTC scholarship winners free room and board.

For full-time students who are legal dependents of full-time ministers in the United Church of Christ.  Documentation of eligibility is required.

Greensboro College evaluates each student’s application for admission to determine eligibility for merit-based aid.  Prospective students are evaluated on high school or previous college grade point average, SAT or ACT score, strength of the curriculum, extra curricular activities, demonstration of leadership and community service participation.

Greensboro College also offers Fine Arts Scholarships in music, theatre and art to students with outstanding talents.

Presidential Awards are given to a small number of students.  This award covers four years of tuition, fees, room and board.  To be considered you must have a combined SAT score of 1250 or an ACT score of 28 and have demonstrated outstanding academic preparation, leadership in school and participation in community service activities.

Honors Scholars are students who are finalists for the Presidential Scholarship who do not receive that award.  Honors Scholars will be provided funding up to the level of tuition and fees when combined with governmental support.

Trustees Scholarships are given to outstanding members of the entering freshman class.  This scholarship covers ¾  of tuition and fees.

Deans Scholarships cover up to ½ of tuition and fees.

Scholarships of Recognition are awards ranging from$1,000 - $3,600 depending on the strength of the student.

Eagle Scout and Gold Awards are given to students who document the achievement of the Eagle Scout or Gold Award.  This scholarship is a maximum of $2,000.

Fine Arts Scholarships are available to students with outstanding talents in the fields of music, theatre, or art.  The music and theatre departments hold auditions for prospective students.

Presidential Scholarships – given to incoming freshmen who have demonstrated outstanding leadership during high school.  $5,000 per year.  Cumulative SAT of 1170 and ranking in top 15% of high school class required.

Corrella and Bertram F. Bonner Scholarships are given to 20 freshmen  who ranked in the top 40% of high school class and who demonstrate financial aide.

Quaker Leadership Scholarship Program – 10 scholarships given to Quakers who demonstrate leadership.

Presidential Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors.  These full tuition scholarships are awarded for four years of undergraduate studies.  Students must have demonstrated high academic achievement, leadership, and volunteer service.  A separate application is required.  These applications need to be postmarked by December 1.

The following scholarships all have separate applications and are due by January 15:

Reece A Overcash Fellowships are awarded to graduating seniors.  The amount of the scholarship is $5,000 and is awarded to students who exhibit an interest in the relationships between the humanities and math, science, and technology.    A separate application is due by January 15.

John H. Sykes Trustee Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who have exhibited outstanding records in scholarship, leadership and have demonstrated a high range of service to the school and community.  Up to 40 scholarships are given each year and can be worth up to $5,000 each year.  A separate application is due by January 15.

Outstanding Minority Scholarships are awarded annually to graduating minority students with outstanding credentials and leadership records.  Up to 10 awards are given each year, and the awards range from $1,000 - $4,000.  A separate application is due by January 15.

Outstanding Leadership Scholarships  are available for up to 20 graduating seniors.  Recipients must have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their high school or community.  The amount ranges from $1,000 - $2,500.

Community service grants are given to students who have a record of outstanding community service and who want to be involved with community service projects in college.  These awards range up to $2,200.

Presbyterian Church Scholarships are available to students who are active in the Presbyterian church.  These scholarships range up to $2,000 annually.

Music Scholarships, Drama Scholarships, Art Scholarships are all available.  These scholarships range from $1,000 - $3,000.  Auditions or portfolios are required and due by February 15.

Queens Scholar and Queens Achievement Awards are available to graduating seniors who have strong academic and leadership qualities.  The scholarships can amount up to $3000 annually.  No application is required, but you should contact the admissions office about the specifics of the award process.

Special Merit Scholarships are available to first year students.  These include:  National Merit Finalist ($4,000 per year) and Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarships (automatically given to the first 10 applicants who are accepted and are number 1 or 2 in their graduating class of 50 or more - $4,000 per year).

Bonner Scholarships provide financial assistance to a limited number of high need students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service.  Bonner Scholars are enabled to pursue active community service in their work crew and develop strong service leadership skills over four years in the program.  They also participate in AmeriCorps, receiving a $2,300 Education Grant after each two year period.  WWC adds limited additional scholarship funds.  The college meets 100% of financial need for 2 students per year.  To apply, please check the Bonner box on the top of the application.

To apply for competitive honor scholarships, you must file the Warren Wilson Financial Aide and Scholarship Application (WWFASA) postmarked by February 28.

Legacy Awards are a one time $500 grant given to students who have had parents or grandparents who graduated from Wingate.

Ministerial Dependent Grants are $1,500 grants given to dependents of full time pastors, ordained church professionals, or missionaries serving in cooperating Baptist churches.

Baptist Youth Leader Awards are a one time $500 award given to outstanding leaders in their local Baptist church youth groups.  A letter of recommendation from the church’s youth minister or senior minister is required for consideration.

Church Youth Leader Awards are a one time $500 award given to outstanding leaders in their local church youth groups.  A letter of recommendation from the church’s youth minister or senior minister is required for consideration.
