This modified program of developmental activities, games, sports, and rhythms is designed to provide each student
with opportunities to develop organic vigor, muscular strength and endurance within the limits of the individual’s
abilities. The skills taught in all adaptive classes depend on the individual’s abilities and on medical advice.
Adaptive Recreation Center Visitation Program
In cooperation with the Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Department, Chesapeake Public Schools provides selected
cross-categorical special education students with an adapted physical education class at local recreation centers.
Adaptive Physical Education Swim Program
In cooperation with the Hampton Roads YMCA cross-categorical students participate in four swimming lessons during
the school year.
