The
Office of Special Education develops and presents
numerous staff development opportunities for special
education teachers, general education teachers,
related service providers, building level administrators,
and paraprofessionals.
Inservice
opportunities are provided on an annual basis
in the identified areas of need. Inservice topics
range from proper development of the Individualized
Education Plan (IEP) and Child Study Committee
procedures (CSC) to strategies for differentiating
instruction and implementation of pre referral
strategies/accommodations prior to the referral
for special education services. Training topics
are also provided regarding the reauthorization
of the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Improvement Act (IDEA 04), procedural changes
based upon the reauthorized regulations and the
adoption of state regulations. Additional inservice
topics are also provided at individual building
level requests.
The
Office of Special Education offers inservice opportunities
that are aligned with division-wide initiatives
such as data analysis, cultural diversity, the
literacy initiative, and differentiated instruction.
Courses
are also offered on a variety of topics through
the Staff Developer. These courses are geared
for all target audiences and are offered throughout
the entire school year as well as the summer months.
If
you have any questions about the staff development
