Dear PTA/PTSA Members,
It is with great excitement that I serve as your Council President. It is an honor to work
with all of the dedicated individuals of the Executive Board and I look forward to an
outstanding year as we advocate together for the children. We are all here to lend support and
information to help make your year one of many successes. I welcome all of the enthusiastic
leaders of the Chesapeake Council Board, both returning members and new members, and
thank you sincerely for your service.
You are a team of leaders for your local units. As leaders, it is important to run your
units according to the mission and purpose of the PTA. Our theme this year is “Hitting a
Home Run with PTA!” The board has planned many training and informational programs to
help you do just that. Each meeting will have a focus that will target important areas to help
you and your unit hit a home run of success! The Leadership Training in September is a great
way to get started. This is specific training for presidents, treasurers, secretaries, and reflections
as well as programs and fundraising opportunities. Please read the resource guide and attend
or send representation to as many meetings as you can. Remember we are here to provide
service and support to your units and cannot do it without you. I look forward to seeing you
there.
We are fortunate in the city of Chesapeake to have a team of supporters working
together as key elements in the success of our children. Our school district continues to stand
out among the state as leaders dedicated to providing the best education for all of the children.
I want to thank Dr. James T. Roberts, Dr. Jean Infantino, Mr. Tom Cupitt, Mrs. Ginny Handy,
Mr. Garland Holloman, the School Board, Mayor Alan Krasnoff and City Council for their
dedication and support.
As a council, we are committed to be at your service and feel free to contact us at
anytime. Thank you for your support, leadership and dedication to PTA. John F. Kennedy once
said, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” We look forward to doing both
with you as we Hit a Home Run with PTA!
Sincerely,
Lynne Lowe
