Summer School for Elementary 

(grades Pre-K through 5)  

 ·     Elementary summer school is for Chesapeake   Public School  students only.

 ·   Students must be recommended by their teachers.

 ·         Summer school for Basic Skills (grades K – 5) will be held from July 1 to July 31.  Summer school will be in session from Monday through Thursday.  There will be no school on Fridays.  Hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

 ·         Primary Adventures for grades 1 through 3 and Visual Arts and Introduction to Foreign Language for grades 4 and 5 are nine-day sessions.  (These programs are teacher recommended).  Dates vary according to schools.

 ·         Elementary summer school will be held at the following schools:

Butts Road Intermediate  for students who attend Butts Road Primary and Butts Road Intermediate

Deep Creek Elementary for students who attend Grassfield Elementary, Deep Creek Elementary, and Deep Creek Central Elementary            

Carver Intermediate for students who attend Carver Intermediate and Portlock Primary

Great Bridge Intermediate for students who attend Cedar Road Elementary, Great Bridge Intermediate, and Great Bridge Primary

Greenbrier Intermediate for students who attend Greenbrier Primary and Greenbrier Intermediate

Hickory Elementary for students who attend Southeastern Elementary and Hickory Elementary

Southwestern Elementary for students who attend Chittum Elementary and Southwestern Elementary

Sparrow Road Intermediate for students who attend Georgetown Primary, Norfolk Highlands, and Sparrow Road Intermediate

Thurgood Marshall Elementary for students who attend Thurgood Marshall Elementary

Treakle Elementary for students who attend Camelot Elementary and Treakle Elementary

Western Branch Intermediate for students who attend Western Branch Primary and Western Branch Intermediate

B.M. Williams Primary for students who attend B.M. Williams Primary and Crestwood Intermediate

Rena B. Wright Primary for students who attend Rena B. Wright Primary and Truitt Intermediate       

 

 

 

Secondary Summer School 

(Middle and High School)

Summer school will begin Monday, June 23, 2008 for students in grades 6 – 12.

Courses will be designed for 18 or 36 days.  Information regarding summer school including courses will be available in all schools in April.

  • School will be in session June 23–August 13.

  • Schools will be closed July 4 and July 18.

  • Graduation will be on August 13, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. at Indian River High School

Enrichment Series (grades 6 – 12)

This series will offer summer programs that will give students an opportunity to learn new skills and to explore new areas of interest.  Most of these classes will be held at The Center for Science and Technology.  Information regarding the classes, dates, and costs will be available in all middle and high schools in April.
