Summer School for Elementary

Elementary Summer School (Pre-k through grade 5)

(Elementary classes will only be offered if there is sufficient enrollment.)

• Elementary remedial summer school is for Chesapeake Public School students only.

• Students must be recommended by their teachers.

• Summer school for Pre-k through grade 5 will be held from June 27 – July 28. School will be in session Monday through Thursday. Schools will be closed on Fridays and Monday, July 4, 2011. Hours are 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

• Elementary Enrichment classes for gifted and high-achieving students in grades 1 – 3 and Introduction to Foreign Language classes for gifted and high-achieving students in grades 4 – 5 will be offered from July 11 – July 21. Classes will be in session Monday through Thursday. Schools will be closed on Fridays. Hours are 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. There is a $150 fee for each class for Chesapeake residents. Payment is due no later than April 15, 2011.

Chesapeake Public Schools students should pay at the school they currently attend. Chesapeake residents that do not attend Chesapeake Public Schools need to show proof of residency and pay at the summer school center they plan to attend between April 11 and April 15, 2011.

School will be held at the following centers:
Butts Road Primary School:
For students who attend Butts Road Primary School, Butts Road Intermediate School, Hickory Elementary School and Southeastern Elementary School.

B. M. Williams Primary School:
For students who attend B.M. Williams Primary School and Crestwood Intermediate School.

Deep Creek Central Elementary School:
For students who attend Deep Creek Central Elementary School, Deep Creek Elementary School, Camelot Elementary School and Treakle Elementary School.

Georgetown Primary School:
For students who attend Georgetown Primary School, Norfolk Highlands Primary School and Sparrow Road Intermediate School.

Great Bridge Primary School:
For students who attend Great Bridge Primary School, Cedar Road Elementary School, Grassfield Elementary School and Great Bridge Intermediate School.

Portlock Primary School:
For students who attend Portlock Primary School, Carver Intermediate School and Thurgood Marshall Elementary School.

Truitt Intermediate School:
For students who attend Truitt Intermediate School, Greenbrier Intermediate School, Greenbrier Primary School and Rena B. Wright Primary School.

Southwestern Elementary School:
For students who attend Southwestern Elementary School, Chittum Elementary School, Western Branch Intermediate School and Western Branch Primary School.



Middle School Summer School (grades 6 – 8)
(Middle school classes will only be offered if there is sufficient enrollment.)

• Summer school repeat courses for middle school are for Chesapeake Public School students only.

• Middle summer school will consist of 2 ten-day repeat courses. (June 27 – July 13 and July 18 – August 2, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) Schools will be in session Monday – Thursday. There will be no school on Fridays or Monday, July 4. There is no fee for these classes. • Enrichment classes for gifted and high-achieving students will be held from July 11 – July 21. There is a $150 fee for Chesapeake residents. Chesapeake Public School students must register by April 15, 2011 at their current school. Students who reside in Chesapeake and attend private schools or are home schooled must register between April 11 and April 15, 2011 at Crestwood Middle School.

• Summer school will be held at Crestwood Middle School.

• Bulletins outlining these courses and other pertinent information will be available at all middle schools in April. You can also access this information below.

Bulletin - Crestwood Middle School



High School Summer School (grades 9 – 12)
(High school classes will only be offered if there is sufficient enrollment.)

• All classes for high school will be held from June 27 – August 17. School will be in session from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. There will be no school on Fridays or Monday, July 4.

• There is a $300 fee for Chesapeake residents. Non-Chesapeake residents will be charged $600.

• Summer School will be held at Oscar Smith High School.

• Bulletins outlining these courses and other pertinent information will be available at all high schools in April. You can also access this information below.
