Regional Education Symposium a Big Hit!

Western Branch High School Cammerata

The Chairs from Virginia Beach (Mr. Daniel Edwards), Norfolk (Dr. Kirk Houston), Portsmouth (Mr. James Bridgeford), Suffolk (Dr. Michael Debranski), and Chesapeake (Mr. Harry Murphy) spoke on the role of the School Board in decision making.

Dr. James Merrill (Virginia Beach Superintendent) discussed the VASS Blueprint for Education while Dr. Deran Whitney (Suffolk) gave information on the new expectations for teacher evaluation.

Dr. David Stuckwisch (Portsmouth) addressed the issues related to accreditation, Mr. Michael Spencer (Norfolk) discussed building needs, and Dr. James Roberts (Chesapeake) detailed financing public education. Regina Mobley from WVEC served as moderator and fielded a wide variety of questions from the audience.

The event was sponsored by the Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation.
