A huge shout out to our amazing guidance counselor/director, Mr. Winston. He goes above and beyond when supporting our students, both in and outside of school. Thank you Mr. Winston for all you do - CCSS appreciates you.

CCSS Staff is wearing all black today to bring awareness to the institutional and systemic racism and oppression of black and brown people in the United States and around the world.

To celebrate Black History Month, CCSS is offering "Taste it Tuesdays" this year. Today, students learned about the invention of the potato chip in 1853, which is attributed to George Crum, who is of African American & Native American heritages. CCSS students love chips.

🎉 Join us in saluting the service of over 800 school board members in Virginia for School Board Appreciation Month! The 2024 theme — The Heart of Education: Our School Board — acknowledges that the school board is at the heart of the education system, guiding it with kindness and care. The month-long observance is an opportunity to build a stronger understanding of the crucial role school boards assume in a constitutional republic. School boards voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing public school divisions, while preserving the core of our democratic values. #CPSCelebrates

Some additional holiday decor. Also the students learned about being unique while creating "snowflakes" out of brown paper bags. Happy holidays - we wish everyone a safe, enjoyable and relaxing break.

CCSS decorated for the holidays and Ms. Sahr won the door decorating contest with her gingerbread theme. Congratulations Ms. Sahr and happy holidays to all. We hope you all have a relaxing and safe winter break.

CCSS celebrated our staff with December birthdays by having a pot luck breakfast/lunch. Everything was delicious and much appreciated. We got to sample some ethnic specialties, as well as some tried and true favorites. Many thanks to those who contributed.
