Communications

Our mission is to provide timely, courteous responses to all inquiries, and to ensure that the message of the Chesapeake Public Schools reaches our community.

The Department of Communications provides information and assists the public with questions, concerns, and problems. This department is also responsible for the dissemination of information to print and electronic media outlets. We oversee a number of school district publications and brochures which include the Quick Facts Card and also manage our district social media presence.

Parent Contact Information

At the beginning of each school year, all families must complete the student online verification process for each student enrolled in the school district. The online verification process is only accessible through a  🌐ParentVUE account. The verification process allows our families to confirm or update information for all children in a household at one time. This annual process also provides families the opportunity to review and update their contact information to ensure that they receive emergency notifications and other important information and communications from their student’s school and the school district.

Parent Alert System

Our school district and our schools will send emergency messages through our Parent Alert System (PAS). An  🌐archive of messages sent from the district level is available on our website. Emergency messages will be sent out by phone and text messages.

Text Messages. Text messages from the district and from schools will go out from the shortcode 98900.

Opt-Out. Families can opt-out of any future messages by responding “STOP” to the text message you received from number 98900. If at any time in the future you would like to opt back in and resume receiving text messages from the school and district, you can do so by sending “START” to 98900.

Recurring Messages. Message & Data rates may apply. Terms and Privacy at http://3csms.mobi/98900/

If You Suspect You Are Not Receiving Emergency Messages

  1. Ensure that the parent contact information we have on file is current and correct by completing the student online verification process. The verification process can be completed in a web browser or in the ParentVUE mobile app. Once logged in, select ONLINE REGISTRATION & VERIFICATION and follow the prompts to verify your student’s information. If you have not activated your ParentVUE account or have lost access, please contact your child’s school.

  2. Ensure that your phone is not blocking phone calls from the district or from your student’s school.  Please take a moment to add Chesapeake Public Schools as a contact (757)547-0153. We recommend that you add your school’s name and phone number as a contact as well.
