The Staff Developer

Course offerings in The Staff Developer represent the commitment of the school district to the professional development of its employees. These offerings are system-sponsored and free to employees of the school district.

The Staff Developer advertises courses that support content areas, effective and differentiated teaching and learning strategies, teaching across modalities (e.g., blended, virtual), integrating technology into instruction as well as courses that are part of an add-on endorsement series (e.g., gifted education).  Licensed personnel may earn licensure points for courses advertised in The Staff Developer.

Interested in becoming a potential instructor for The Staff Developer?

Employees interested in becoming a potential instructor should email Nicole Coury, administrator in the Department of Professional and Organizational Development, to express their interest.

The Technology Trainer

The publication The Technology Trainer advertises technology courses for administrators and support staff.  These training sessions represent the school district’s commitment to professional development.  These offerings are system-sponsored and free to employees of the school district.  Licensed personnel may earn licensure points for these courses (excluding work sessions).

The Technology Trainer link allows you to view course offerings. The link is accessible using a CPS Google account. These courses are designed for administrators and support staff only.

The Technology Trainer is distributed to principals, directors, and supervisors three times each year (i.e., fall, spring, summer).  In turn, these administrators are asked to share the course advertisements with the appropriate personnel.

Registering for Technology PD

Registration is handled through the Division of Technology Innovation (757-482-5635).

Councils

The Professional and Organizational Development Councils were created in 1996 to provide personnel the opportunity to share ideas/comments about training from their individual schools or departments. Schools/departments are asked to select representatives for the councils. There are five councils: classified personnel, elementary teachers, secondary teachers, elementary administrators, and secondary administrators. Feedback from council members has proved to be invaluable.
