At Deep Creek Central, we believe in the power of giving back, and our Anchored4Life students are proving that even something as small as a broken crayon can make a big difference.
Under the guidance of their dedicated advisors, Ms. Fisher and Mrs. Tolentino, students have spent the last several weeks collecting old, used crayons from across our school community. But they weren't just cleaning out desks—they were preparing for the "Recycled Crayon Project."
The goal? To turn discarded wax into something beautiful and functional. Our student leaders spent time sorting, peeling, and melting down the collection to create brand-new, colorful shapes like stars and suns.
Most importantly, many of these are adapted crayons. By molding the wax into larger, easy-to-grip shapes, the Anchored4Life team is ensuring that every student, regardless of their fine motor needs, has the tools to create art.
We are so proud of our students for seeing the potential in something "broken" and turning it into a gift for others. Thank you to everyone who donated to help make this project a colorful success!
