Chesapeake Public Schools is excited to announce the unified application window for several of its specialized academic programs for the 2027-2028 school year. The application window is open from October 9 to October 30, 2026.

This application window includes a variety of high school and middle school programs designed to provide students with unique learning opportunities.

Student Eligibility
Student eligibility for specialized programs varies by program. Students in the following grade levels are eligible to apply in the upcoming specialized program application window:
Grade 5. Current fifth-grade students can apply to the SmithTech program.
SmithTech curriculum is completed in grades 6-8.Grade 8. Current eighth-grade students can apply to high school academies.
All four high school academy curricula are completed in grades 9-12.Grades 9, 10 & 11. Current students in grades 9-11 are eligible to apply to the Chesapeake Career Center.
