It has been an incredible Literacy Month here at Greenbrier Primary, filled with stories, creativity, and very special guests!
A Sweet Visit to “The Hive”
Ms. Satchell’s class, affectionately known as “The Hive,” was buzzing with excitement to welcome Superintendent Dr. Cotton! The students were captivated by the story he shared and were so proud to perform a special poem just for him.
Greenbrier Primary thanks Dr. Cotton for his years of dedicated leadership and his heart for our young learners. We wish you the absolute best in your retirement—you deserve it! You are always welcome back to "The Hive" at Greenbrier Primary.
Celebrating Our Student Stars
We are also bursting with pride over the individual achievements of our talented students:
Elsbeth Mills: Huge congratulations on your winning picture for Alice in Wonderland! Your artistic vision truly brought the magic of the story to life.
Shai Nesbitt: Kudos to our Literacy Month author! We are so inspired by your work, Curls Are My Confidence. Thank you for sharing such an empowering message with us all!

🎙️ Hall Pass to History: Indian River High School
Last week was Virginia Principals Appreciation Week, and we’re celebrating the leadership that helps schools “RISE.” In this episode, IRHS junior Adrian Langaster sets the stage for a conversation with Principal Naomi Dunbar and former Principal James L. Frye on what makes IRHS feel like family and how they “RISE” together. From murals and modernization to pep rallies, mentorship, and moments of care that define a community, this story shows how culture is built day by day, person by person.
