Spectator Entry Guidelines - All District Athletic Events

To enhance safety and streamline stadium entry for our students, families, and community members, Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS) is updating its spectator event entry policies beginning in Fall 2026.

This updated safety protocol applies uniformly across all ticketed district events—both indoor and outdoor—at all 7 high schools and 10 middle schools in Chesapeake.

Digital Ticketing via GoFan

Chesapeake Public Schools will use GoFan, an online and mobile-only ticket purchasing system, at all middle and high school athletic events during the 2026-2027 school year. The GoFan ticketing system allows our schools to operate a more efficient ticket gate while creating an enhanced fan experience. GoFan also allows fans to easily access and share purchased tickets with friends or family by email or text.

Spectators are required to purchase tickets for all ticketed district athletic events in advance using GoFan, the district’s official ticketing partner, or at the venue gate using a credit/debit card. Cash will not be accepted at the gate.

Single-game general admission tickets are set at $8.00. For frequent attendees, annual passes are available for $70.00 for adults and $40.00 for students, covering all regular-season VHSL contests and all CMSL events for the duration of the 2026-2027 school year. Due to VHSL rules, our annual pass is not valid for high school tournaments, jamborees, or invitationals during the regular season or any post-season tournaments or championship events.

To enter, fans must present their digital ticket on a mobile device to gate staff for live validation. Printed passes and screenshots will not be accepted. Fans are encouraged to download the GoFan app or access their account prior to arrival to avoid delay at the gate.

Security Policies & Entry Protocols

In addition to digital ticketing, Chesapeake Public Schools will operate with new entry protocols for all ticketed events.

  • Clear Bag Policy: Only clear bags measuring up to 12" x 12" x 6" or small clutch pouches up to 4.5" x 6.5" are permitted. Diaper bags and necessary medical equipment bags remain allowed. All bags are subject to search at the gate. Non-compliant bags will be turned away, and ticket refunds will not be issued for policy violations.

  • Prohibited Items: To maintain a safe environment, district venues strictly ban tobacco and vaping products, weapons of any kind, alcohol, outside food and drink, glass/metal containers, drones, and fireworks. Personal recreation gear—such as sports balls, skateboards, scooters, and hoverboards— are also prohibited.

  • Pets: In accordance with School Board Policy 5-22, pets are not allowed inside of venues, with the exception of service animals.

  • Face Coverings: Consistent with Virginia Code § 18.2-422, full-face coverings like gaiters, masks, or balaclavas that conceal identity are prohibited unless medically necessary.
