Anchor Club

Mrs. Royster

The Anchor Club is a service organization that promotes service and kindness in our school and community. If you enjoy helping others this is the club for you! Club dues are $10. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 3:00-3:45 and periodically as needed.

Drama

Calling all actors and stage enthusiasts!  Love to act?  Good with sound bites, lighting design, costumes, or stage make-up?  Interested in showing off those carpenter or painting skills? Or just want to have a blast after school?  If so, the HMS Drama Club is looking for YOU!  Come join the best middle school theatre group this side of the Elizabeth River. Meeting times to be determined. Dues $25.

Forensics

Forensics involves reading of poetry and prose and original oratory. Those chosen for competition must attend the city wide tournament in February. All members perform for their parents at our Parents Night prior to the competition.

Girls Who Code

Mrs. Hogge

Girls Who Code (GWC) is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology and computer science. Their mission is to inspire more girls to become computer scientists and engineers and for students to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world. Club will meet Oct. 18th, Nov. 1st, Nov. 15th and Nov. 29th from 2:55 pm – 4:15 pm.

Junior Student to Student

Ms. Green

JS2S is a program lead by middle school students to meet the transitional needs of students. This is a military based club, but all students are welcome. You will learn how to welcome new students, become an expert about HMS to share with new students, and learn leadership skills. We need students from each grade level to represent that grade. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 3:15-3:45 pm. Dues $10.

Technology Student Association (TSA)

The Technology Student Association (TSA) club is part of a national student organization created to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and leadership. Students develop solutions to different technology challenges and participate in local, state, and/or national competitions. Most of the competition work is done independently outside of school. Meetings are after school as needed from 3:00 to 4:00 (dates to be announced). Dues: $50

Wyld Life

Ms. Burkett

Christian students gather together to support and encourage each other like a youth group at school. First and Third Fridays of the month 7:10-7:50 am.
