Grassfield Dance Team Announces 2026-2027 Dates

The Grassfield Dance Team (GDT) has released its official schedule for the 2026-2027 season. Students interested in joining the team should take note of the upcoming clinics and audition requirements listed below.

Technique Clinics

Clinics are not required to audition but are highly encouraged for preparation. Both sessions are held at the Grassfield Auditorium from 4:15 pm to 6:45 pm.

  • Jazz Clinic (March 24th): Focuses on technique and jazz/lyrical routines. Please bring any shoes or half-soles you are comfortable in.

  • Pom Clinic (April 14th): Focuses on technique and pom-specific movements.

Audition Details

Official GDT Auditions will be held on May 2nd, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm in the Grassfield Auditorium. Please arrive ready to dance in appropriate athletic attire.

Specific Skills We're Looking For

Candidates will be evaluated on the following technical skills:

  • Double Pirouettes (Minimum)

  • Triple Pirouettes (Right & Left)

  • Abstract Turns

  • Strong Battements

  • Calypsos

  • A La Seconde Turns

  • Toe Touches

  • Second Leaps

  • Grande Jetes

  • Ariels

  • Kip Ups

  • Any Tumbling or Tricks

  • Willingness to try anything!

Team Commitment

The GDT performs at football games, pep rallies, and competes across Virginia. Please be aware that practices during the school year are held on weekdays at 6:30 am.
