Tuesday, April 21, 2026 is a special election in the state of Virginia. As a result, Chesapeake Public Schools will operate on an Asynchronous Remote Learning Day for all students across the district.

This change was made to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff because many of our school buildings serve as public polling locations for local elections. Moving to a remote schedule allows us to accommodate the community's needs while maintaining instructional continuity. The School Board approved this change to the academic calendar during the March 23, 2026, School Board Meeting.

What Families Need to Know:

No In-Person Classes: School buildings will be closed to students.

Asynchronous Learning: Students will complete lessons and assignments independently from home. Teachers will provide specific instructions and materials through their usual digital platforms. More details will be shared at a later date.
