Chesapeake Public Schools will commence with the destruction of short-term student records from the 2020-2021 school year on July 1, 2026, per records retention schedules provided by the Library of Virginia in accordance with the Virginia Public Records Act § 42.1-85. This may include health information and special education records. Students no longer enrolled at Chesapeake Public Schools who wish to obtain a copy of their educational record should contact the last school attended by June 1, 2026, to process the request before the scheduled destruction date of July 1, 2026.
