Chesapeake Public Schools will commence with the destruction of short-term student records from the 2019-2020 school year on July 1, 2025, per records retention schedules provided by the Library of Virginia under Virginia Code § 42.1-85. This may include health information and special education records. Students no longer enrolled at Chesapeake Public Schools who wish to obtain a copy of their educational record should contact the last school attended by June 2, 2025, to process the request before the scheduled destruction date of July 1, 2025.
