Thank you to everyone who applied! Applications for these specialized programs for the 2026-2027 school year are now closed. The application window closed on November 5, 2025. Please look for updates regarding the selection process in the coming weeks.
Chesapeake Public Schools is excited to announce a new, unified application window for several of its specialized academic programs for the 2026-2027 school year. The application window is open from October 15 to November 5, 2025.

This new application window includes a variety of high school and middle school programs designed to provide students with unique learning opportunities.

Student Eligibility
Student eligibility for specialized programs varies by program. Students in the following grade levels are eligible to apply in the upcoming specialized program application window:
Grade 5. Current fifth-grade students apply to the SmithTech program.
SmithTech curriculum is completed in grades 6-8.Grade 8. Current eighth-grade students apply to high school academies.
All three high school academy curricula are completed in grades 9-12.Grades 9, 10 & 11. Current students in grades 9-11 are eligible to apply to the Chesapeake Career Center.
