From career-boosting certifications to classes designed to enrich your daily life, the new semester offers a wide array of opportunities for residents and non-residents aged 18 and older to grow, connect, and thrive.

Golden Opportunities for Senior Citizens

There is no age-limit on learning! The act of challenging yourself to learn new skills helps to promote mental resilience, improve mental health outcomes, and enhance overall well-being. Continued learning helps maintain mental sharpness, builds cognitive reserve, and fosters a thriving social life.

Chesapeake Public Schools encourages older adults to explore courses like Computers for Seniors and iPad/iPhone for Seniors, which provide basic tech training and help you adapt to modern technology.

Senior Citizen Gold Card Savings

Citizens aged 55 or older who are Chesapeake residents and not employed full-time are eligible for a Senior Citizen Gold Card. This card entitles the holder to enroll in many Community Education courses at a reduced fee and free admission to regular Chesapeake Public Schools athletic events!

Current Gold Cards are valid July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026.

Citizens must apply in person via appointment only. Please bring proof of age, proof of residency, and cash or check for the $15 registration fee. Call 757-482-5680 to secure an appointment, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
