Please note: This article was updated on March 24, 2026.

Following a series of public hearings and multiple opportunities for community feedback, the Chesapeake School Board officially approved the attendance zones for the district’s newest elementary school during their meeting on March 23, 2026.

The new boundaries are scheduled to go into effect in September 2027 for the 2027-2028 school year when the new school, currently under construction in the Culpepper Landing neighborhood of Deep Creek, is scheduled to open its doors for students in grades PK-5.

The Approved Attendance Zones

After reviewing four proposed options, the School Board selected Option 3. The approved boundaries will draw from several existing zones to balance enrollment across the following schools:

  • Cedar Road Elementary

  • Deep Creek Central Elementary

  • Deep Creek Elementary

  • Grassfield Elementary

  • Great Bridge Primary (minimal impact)

  • Great Bridge Intermediate (minimal impact)

Note: These adjustments do not impact current middle or high school attendance zones.
