Student achievement and academic growth remain core priorities for Chesapeake Public Schools. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) recently updated Standards of Learning (SOL) cut scores—the minimum score needed on a 0–600 scale to demonstrate proficiency—to align state assessments with elevated reading and mathematics standards and national benchmarks.
Phased-In Transition
To support families during this shift, the Virginia Board of Education approved a multi-year transition beginning in the 2026–2027 school year:
Pass/Approaching Level: A temporary performance tier will ease the adjustment toward full proficiency.
Graduation & Accountability: Students earning a Pass/Approaching score will meet high school graduation and school accountability requirements during the phase-in period.
Accessing Test Results
Detailed score reports will be available via the Virginia Assessment Parent Portal (Fall) and the new Virginia Assessment Family Portal (Spring 2027). Claim codes and instructions to view your child's Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) report will be posted to your Synergy ParentVUE documents folder post-testing.
