Michael Powers, Jr. is our 2026 Middle School Teacher of the Year!Mr. Michael Powers, Jr. has been selected as Chesapeake Public Schools Middle School Teacher of the Year. Mr. Powers is an 8th-grade math teacher at Crestwood Middle School. A proud graduate of Indian River High School and Old Dominion University, Michael has spent the past eight years transforming how students engage with math, helping them build confidence, resilience, and a love for learning. Known for his innovative teaching, hands-on projects, and technology integration, he creates an environment where every student can succeed. Beyond the classroom, Michael is a dedicated mentor and community advocate, founding the Falcon Forge Mentorship Program and actively participating in school events and initiatives. His leadership, passion, and unwavering commitment to students make him an outstanding educator and a well-deserving recipient of this honor. Congratulations, Michael!
