Spreading Kindness at Deep Creek Central Elementary 🌹 It’s a Friday filled with friendship at "The Creek" as students celebrate Valentine’s Day. The highlight of the morning was a special little Valentine roaming the halls delivering roses to faculty and staff members, reminding us all of the power of a simple act of kindness. Whether it’s exchanging cards in class or sharing a rose in the hall, today is a beautiful reminder of the supportive community we have here at DCCE. We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Valentine’s weekend! 💜💛

Leading with Excellence
We were honored to have Jovan, a 5th-grade student from Mrs. Haueisen's class, lead the Pledge of Allegiance at last night’s School Board meeting! 🇺🇸

Jovan represented his class and our school with incredible confidence and pride. We are so proud of his leadership!

Way to go, Jovan! 🎉📚👏

🖍️ Give Your Old Crayons a New Life! 🌈
It’s time to clean out those junk drawers and backpack pockets! Throughout the month of February, DCCE’s Anchored4Life group is hosting a Crayon Recycle Drive to turn "trash" into treasure. ♻️✨

How the Magic Works:
Step 1: Bring in your unwanted or broken crayons! 🎒

Step 2: Our amazing A4L Team Leaders will sort them by color every week. 🧡💛💚

Step 3: With a little help from an adult and a craft oven, we’ll melt them down into brand-new, fun-shaped crayons! 🦖⭐🍎

Where Are They Going? 🎁
We aren’t just recycling; we’re giving back! These "new" crayons will be:

Distributed to DCCE classrooms that need adaptive supplies. 🏫

Donated to a local organization supporting at-risk youth in our community. ❤️

📍 Drop-Off Details:
When: All through February!
Where: Look for the Crayon Recycle Drop Box located just inside the Main Entrance.

Send those broken crayons in with your student and help us make a colorful difference!

Let’s get recycling, DCCE! 🖍️

🎉 We're proud to celebrate Teacher of the Year Finalist: Karly Lemm! 🎉

For 8 years, Ms. Lemm has been pouring her heart into educating the next generation. Currently, a first grade teacher at Deep Creek Central, this Indian River High Class of 2013 graduate and JMU degree holder knows what matters most: the beautiful relationships and trust she builds with every student and family. "No matter what happens, I'm always in their corner."

Her advice? "Learning follows connection. Create a safe space where students feel loved first. They have to feel it to believe it."

When she's not teaching, she's curled up with a good book, cheering on her favorite teams, or making memories with family and friends.

Congratulations, Ms. Lemm! 💜🤍 #CPSCelebrates #CPSTOY2026
