Ten amazing girls from DCM attended the "Girls for the Win" conference at the ATC in VB and had an unforgettable day! They listened to an inspiring motivational speaker, connected with women entrepreneurs, and met professionals from STEM fields across the board. The girls left energized, empowered, and excited about future possibilities.
Huge thanks to the organizers at Junior Achievement of Greater Hampton Roads and all the women who shared their stories, you helped spark confidence and curiosity in the next generation of leaders. Go DCM! 💪✨

The weather outside is frightful, but the tropical vibes are delightful. Here's to Day 8 of the 12 Days of Holiday Cheer!
#ItsAGreatDayToBeAHornet

It’s Elf Day at DCMS and the North Pole has officially taken over the hallways. We have the best "helpers" in the business! Seeing our teachers and students matching, laughing, and embracing the chaos of the "12 Days of Holiday Cheer" is exactly what this season is about.
#itsAGreatDayToBeAHornet

Our students understood the assignment today. 10/10 execution on the winter aesthetic!

Day 4 of Holiday Cheer brought all the sparkles. The outfits are festive, but the smiles are the best accessory. 📸

Our hallways were divided today for the 12 Days of Holiday Cheer! We saw plenty of green (feeling slightly mischievous?) and a whole lot of red (bringing the joy!). Whether you’re feeling a little "Grinchy" or full of Santa spirit, our students and staff showed up in style.

Today’s "12 Days of Holiday Cheer" theme was all about getting cozy. It’s days like this that remind us how unique our school spirit really is. We love seeing our students expressing themselves and having fun together before the holiday break.
Proud of our students for bringing the warmth and the style today! 👏

Talk about turning up the holiday cheer! Our students and staff absolutely NAILED Day 1 of the 12 Days of Cheer: Holiday Shirts and Socks!
#ItsAGreatDayToBeAHornet

Our Paint Club students were absolutely crushing it, leaving their artistic mark on the school by painting ceiling tiles. Check out these future Picassos having a blast! 🙌 Seeing our students express themselves and take pride in our space is what it's all about.
Creek Days are back and better than ever, starting again next Monday!

From being an innovative Modern Classroom Project teacher and coach 💻 to mentoring so many of our students and staff, she is always the first to offer a helping hand. We are so lucky to have her energy in our halls!

To show our appreciation for everything they pour into our students, we treated the team to a custom soda mixing station this afternoon. It was the perfect mid-day pick-me-up!
Huge shoutout to our amazing volunteer, Mrs. Jen Mendoza, for stepping up and serving up these sweet treats with a smile. We couldn't do it without our community!

Our staff and teachers took a moment to pause and reflect on why they are grateful for one another. Each feather represents a teammate, a mentor, or a friend who makes our school a better place to learn and grow.
We believe that to teach gratitude to our students, we have to model it ourselves. We are so thankful for this incredible team!

The battle for the Spirit Stick was fierce, but the 7th graders came out on top in our Cereal Drive, collecting 54 boxes! Together, Deep Creek Middle collected 125 boxes total to help our neighbors. ❤️
The prize? Bragging rights, the Spirit Stick, and... Dr. Page wobbling through the cafeteria as a turkey! 🦃😂 Thank you to every family who donated. We love our community!

We wrapped up our Military Family Spirit Week in style today. Our Hornets showed up in Red, White, and Blue to celebrate the courage and commitment of our military community.
From wearing yellow, to meeting mentors, to today’s patriotic finale—this week has been a powerful reminder of how much we appreciate our service members and their families.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us turn our hallways into a celebration of service! Have a great weekend, Hornets! 🐝

We saw RED in the hallways today—in the best way possible! 🔴🇺🇸
Our Hornets showed up in red to demonstrate our unwavering support for our military families. But today, we didn’t just wear the colors; we connected with the community.
We hosted a special luncheon where active duty service members and veterans sat down with students for real conversations. It was a true mentorship session where students asked about:
✨ The reality of military life & joining up
✨ Career paths in the service
✨ What it really means to serve
Thank you to our guests for answering questions and mentoring the next generation. Seeing our school covered in red while these conversations happened was a powerful reminder of how strong this community is.

These students have demonstrated excellence in Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship—the core pillars of NJHS. It was inspiring to celebrate their dedication alongside their proud families and our dedicated staff.
Congratulations to every inductee! We can't wait to see the positive impact you'll make on our school and community.
