Today, GBI welcomed the graduating seniors of Great Bridge High School back to Great Bridge Intermediate for our annual Graduation Walk!
As they walked our hallways in their caps and gowns, they inspired our 3rd–5th grade students by showing them what dedication, perseverance, and success in education can achieve. For many of our graduates, this visit was especially meaningful—they once sat in these very classrooms and, through the Teachers for Tomorrow program, had the opportunity to return as mentors and educators for our students.
Seeing former GBI students come full circle reminds us that big dreams begin here. Congratulations, Class of 2026! We are so proud of you and can't wait to see where your next chapter takes you.

What's changing?
To join, parents must either donate an item or volunteer for a short shift.
✅ RSVPs will only be accepted after you’ve signed up to donate or volunteer.
⛔️ Teachers and Room Parents won’t be tracking attendance... RSVPs go through our (PTA) form only.
🎟 You’ll need to submit an RSVP for each grade you plan to attend because badges are printed by grade.
Why are we required to donate/volunteer to attend?
Think of it like one of those “donate a canned good for admission” type events.
Having this requirement helps ensure that we have enough food and support for everyone attending. Since we also provide food for parents, these events end up serving well over 1,200 people between students, staff, and families.
It also helps make sure we have enough volunteers to actually run the event. When we are short on help, the PTA Executive Board ends up spending the entire event working instead of getting to spend some time with their own children, which is something I never want to happen.

Our talented GBI students proudly represented us at the WHRO Great Computer Challenge that was held at Old Dominion University!
We took 6 incredible teams to compete in:
Graphic Design, Video Editing, Coding, Desktop Presentation, Desktop Publishing, and Internet Scavenger Hunt.
All of our participating Wildcats left with an amazing experience and brought home some amazing honors:

4th graders at Great Bridge Intermediate had an incredible in-house field trip as Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Outreach brought history to life right in our classrooms. Students were immersed in hands-on learning, explored life in early Virginia, and experienced history in a way that made the past feel real, relevant, and exciting.

Today was such a fun and creative day at GBI! We had our Vocabulary Word Parade, and it was amazing to see everyone bring words to life through costumes. From “brave” to “magnificent,” each student showed off their word with so much creativity and confidence.

Our GBI students transformed the classroom into a living Wax Museum! After researching influential figures, each student became their chosen person—dressed in character, standing still like a statue… until YOU brought them to life 💡
With the push of a button, these “figures” lit up and began speaking in first person, sharing their stories, accomplishments, and impact on the world. From start to finish, the dedication, creativity, and confidence on display were incredible!
