Attendance in high school is counted by individual class and not by an all-day attendance code.
To receive credit for high school classes, the VDOE requires that students have not only a passing grade in a course (63.5+), but also a minimum amount of time in a class.
Students who have more than 9 absences in each 1-credit semester-long class must apply for an attendance waiver to receive credit.
