We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and families for their generous Teddy Bear Donations to support patients at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) sponsored by our SCA!
Because of your kindness, children receiving care will have a soft, comforting friend by their side during their hospital stay. These small acts of generosity bring big smiles and remind patients and their families that our community is thinking of them.
Thank you to everyone who donated and helped spread comfort, compassion, and care beyond our school walls. 💕

The club will offer hands-on, artistic activities—like found poetry, squiggle creations, Socratic discussions, and thumbprint art—to build deeper, creative interactions with texts and peers; limited to 25 students, please contact Mrs. Dekker: vivian.dekker@cpschools.com to be added to the roster!

Each blanket was made with care, compassion, and a desire to bring comfort to young patients during their hospital stay. We are so proud of our NJHS students for living out the pillars of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

This special surprise celebrates the dedication, passion, and creativity she brings to her students every single day. With her winnings, she plans to purchase fabric for classroom projects and add a special day of cooking with her 6th graders — creating hands-on learning experiences they won’t forget! 🧵👩🍳
A heartfelt THANK YOU to our generous community partner, Hatcher & Frey Orthodontics, for sponsoring this wonderful giveaway and for continuously supporting our teachers and school community. Your investment in education truly makes a difference! 💙

Students used Hot Wheels cars and constructed test tracks to investigate motion. They carefully measured distance and time, calculated speed, and then created distance–time graphs to analyze motion over time. To take it a step further, they developed speed–time graphs to explore acceleration and see how speed changes are represented visually.
This activity helped students connect real-world motion to key physics concepts like constant speed, changing velocity, and acceleration — all while strengthening their data collection and graphing skills.
Learning is always more powerful when students can see science in action! 💨📊

Hickory Middle School Speech Team is CITY CHAMPIONS! 💙🔥
🌟 **1st Place – Prose**
Brielle Tanksley captivated the audience with her powerful and emotional reading of A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. Her performance was moving, polished, and absolutely unforgettable!
🌟 **2nd Place – Original Oratory**
Skylar Twyman delivered a breathtaking and inspiring original speech, Dancing for the Soul, that lit up the room. Her passion, poise, and powerful message left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance!
We also want to recognize the incredible talent from our Chesapeake middle schools. The competition was fierce, and every student who performed showed courage, preparation, and creativity. We are proud not only of our wins, but of the way our team supported one another, cheered for others, and demonstrated true sportsmanship throughout the event. Winning with grace — and competing with respect — is what HMS is all about.
