Congratulations to our Student-Athletes of the Month for March! We celebrate Boys Soccer player, Jeremiah Belton ⚽️, and Field Hockey's Brooklyn Hunley 🏑

Coach Clark shared that Jeremiah has been a cornerstone of the program, and throughout this season, "he has continued to make a major impact, consistently contributing to the scoreboard with an impressive number of goals. Beyond his performance, Jeremiah has embraced a leadership role, serving as a positive example for the younger players. His work ethic, attitude, and commitment to excellence have set the standard for what it means to be a Hawk."

Coach Weaver praises Brooklyn for always showing up with a positive attitude and stated she "outworks almost everyone on the field and is one of the most encouraging teammates on the team. Her dedication and aggressiveness are contagious, and it isn't a surprise that she is one of our leading scorers."

Hey, I know what we’re going to do Wednesday! We’re halfway through Spirit Week, and it’s time to grab your partner-in-crime for the ultimate duo day.

🛠️ WEDNESDAY: Phineas & Ferb Day
Theme: Twin Day (Dress like your besties!)

Phineas and Ferb never go on an adventure alone, and neither should you! Whether you have a biological twin or a "soul twin" best friend, today is the day to coordinate your look and show off your creative bond.

🎨 How to Coordinate:
The Classic Duo: One of you rocks the orange stripes (Phineas), and the other goes for the high-waisted purple pants and green hair (Ferb).

Simple Sync: Not into costumes? Just wear matching colors, identical graphic tees, or the same hairstyle with your bestie.

📸 Capture the Invention
Found your twin? Snap a photo in front of your latest "backyard project" and tag us! We want to see the most creative pairs on campus.

We were honored to welcome a very special guest speaker to Hickory Middle School—Mrs. Barbara Bergren!
After weeks of studying the Holocaust and reading Night by Elie Wiesel, our 8th grade students had the incredible opportunity to hear a real, personal story of survival. Mrs. Bergren, an award-winning author and Holocaust educator, shared her father’s powerful experience during and after World War II.

Her book, Witness for My Father, brings his story to life and reminds us all of the importance of remembrance, empathy, and standing up against injustice.

This was a meaningful and unforgettable experience for our students, and we are so grateful she spent time with us.

Students in Ms. Davis's 8th-grade English class reviewed prefixes, roots, and suffixes by building their own words! Students chose two or three word parts, connected them using toilet paper rolls, and then decorated their completed word to match the definition. This hands-on lesson helped students understand that combining word parts can determine a word's definition. Thank you to all the families who sent in toilet paper rolls for this activity!

Who says test review has to be boring? 🥚✨

Today, Thunderhawk students went on an egg hunt—but instead of candy, each egg had a question from their study guide inside! They worked together, raced to find eggs, and tackled each question like champs 💪📚

They even had TWO mystery eggs hidden out in the field 👀🥚—and the lucky winners who found them scored some special prizes! 🎉

Lots of laughs, a little friendly competition, and a whole lot of learning happened today. We are egg-stra proud of their hard work! 🐣💛

A huge shoutout to our talented student directors, Ashton Lencsak (HMS) and Will McNair (HHS), for their outstanding work capturing retirement videos to honor our retirees.
Their creativity, professionalism, and attention to detail helped us preserve meaningful memories and properly celebrate the impact of those who have dedicated so much to our school community.
We are so proud of the way these students used their talents to give back and make this recognition extra special! 👏🎬

This month, we proudly honor and celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifice of our military-connected students. These incredible young people serve in their own way—navigating moves, new schools, and time apart from loved ones—all while continuing to learn, grow, and thrive.

We are grateful for the courage and flexibility they show every day. Thank you to our military families for your service and sacrifice—we are proud to support and celebrate you! 💜
