School attendance is an important factor in a student's academic success. Student attendance requirements are outlined in the district student handbook. The CPS Attendance Waiver Request Form is available for students who are at risk of losing credit as a result of having 10 or more absences in a semester-long class.
Attendance Waiver Requirements
In order to be considered for the attendance waiver:
a student must apply through the online waiver form link;
have a passing grade in the course; and
submit the waiver form by January 23, 2026.
We recommend submitting your paperwork as soon as possible to allow time to obtain a decision before the beginning of the second semester. Attendance waivers submitted after January 23, 2026 may not be processed before second semester which would impact the student's schedule.
If a student does not submit the attendance waiver to provide documentation of their extenuating circumstances, the student will fail the course due to attendance. There is a field to upload the necessary documentation.
