School attendance is an important factor in a student's academic success. Student attendance requirements are outlined in the district student handbook. The CPS Attendance Waiver Request Form is available for students who are at risk of losing credit as a result of having 10 or more absences in a semester-long class.
Attendance Waiver Requirements
Who Needs to Apply: Any student with more than 9 absences in one or more class blocks must submit an application for extenuating circumstances.
In order to be considered for the attendance waiver:
a student must apply through the online waiver form link;
have a passing grade in the course; and
submit the waiver form by May 30, 2026.
If a student does not submit the attendance waiver to provide documentation of their extenuating circumstances, the student will fail the course due to attendance.
