🇺🇸 Friday: Red, White, & Blue Day
We are spending the week celebrating our amazing military children! We can't wait to see everyone showing their support.

Our classrooms were filled with excitement as volunteers from our community shared their favorite stories and their love for literacy. There is something truly magical about a new voice bringing a book to life—our students were absolutely captivated!

From splashing in the water exhibits to navigating the mini-city, our little learners spent the day discovering exactly how our world works. There is nothing quite like seeing the world through the eyes of a four-year-old—where every gear turned and every bubble popped is a scientific breakthrough!

Time: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Where: Texas Roadhouse, 1546 Sam's Circle, Chesapeake, VA
What to Expect:
Candy & Treats: Visit decorated trunks for candy—including the RBW staff who will be there handing out sweets!
Fun for Kids: Enjoy a Bounce House, games, and various activities.
Community: Meet with local vendors and businesses.
Special Offer: *FREE Kids Meals will be available.
We can't wait to celebrate the season with you!

It’s time to open up those books! Tonight, we are reading Chapter 6 of The World According to Humphrey. Humphrey is meeting a very "unusual" visitor—ask your student who it is after you finish reading tonight! 🧼🐹
🗓️ Save the Date: DREAM BIG NIGHT!
Don't forget that our Dream Big Night is happening this Thursday at 5:30 PM!
It’s going to be an incredible evening for our school community to come together, celebrate our students, and—of course—talk about our favorite hamster.

🎶 Fine and Performance Arts Month Spotlight! 🎙 Our latest district podcast episode highlights the powerful impact of music education across our division. In “From First Note to Full Ensemble,” Supervisor of Music Orion Burke and Deep Creek Middle School chorus director Taylor Mercier share how Chesapeake’s K–12 music pathway helps students discover their voice, build confidence, and find a sense of belonging. From the first notes in elementary music class to full ensembles in middle and high school, this episode celebrates the teachers, opportunities, and experiences that help students grow as musicians and leaders. 🎙️ Listen to the episode at cpschools.com/amplified or wherever you get your podcasts!

How did everyone like Chapter 1? Humphrey is officially out of the cage, and the adventure is just beginning!

What an incredible day we had last Thursday! Our Vocab Parade was a total whirlwind of creativity, and it was the perfect way to kick off our One School, One Book journey. Seeing all those words come to life was definitely one for the books!
📖 Look What’s Hiding in the Backpack...
The secret is finally out! By now, every student should have a copy of "The World According to Humphrey" by Betty G. Birney tucked away in their book bag.
🎒 Your Homework (The Fun Kind)
Tonight is the night we officially start our adventure together. Grab a cozy spot, gather the family, and read Chapter 1 with your student.
