🌟Celebrating the Spirit of Giving🌟
Yesterday, through our wonderful partnership with the JCA Foundation, select students were provided with a sprinkle of magic this holiday season through the 18th annual Kidz Kruz event held at Oscar Smith Middle School. ✨
The school was transformed into a ❄ Winter Wonderland that included group sing-alongs, festive crafts, a limbo party with DJ Jay Bondz, and heartwarming visits with Santa. 🎶 Before the event students were asked to create a wish list of items from Walmart. Our teachers then shopped and presented those gifts to students! 🎉 Students also hopped on chartered buses to experience the Holiday Lights in Virginia Beach.

Computer Science Education Week begins today!
The annual call to action inspires students to learn computer science and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners to the field.

Ms. Brennan-Webb's class and Mrs. Gettle designed and built houses to try and withstand a storm surge and heavy winds from a "hurricane". Here's a look at the houses they created.

Ms. Brennan-Webb's class had hands on learning with weather today in their inflatable air house. Students were able to visualize high pressure air masses and low pressure air masses.

Our Instructional Suite has a new small group area! Ms. Sorey, our reading specialist, is taking advantage of this great spot for learning!

Flashback to when Ms. Warner and Mrs. Brittingham's class built model LEGO Windmills!

Ms. Williams class worked in groups to research energy resources and create posters to share what they had learned.

This week Ms. Coleman and Mrs. Gerling's class had a "Macys parade" from the book Balloons over Broadway! They even made a special stop to the office and visited Ms. Popson!

Ozobots took over the Media Center last week with our 4th graders designing balloons for their Ozobot Parade and our 5th graders using block coding to escape a cornfield maze.

Our fifth graders continue to explore
energy resources. They worked in teams to construct a model of a windmill and then programmed the model to power the light on.

11/21-Dismissal Update-Busses left at 3:07pm.
Bus routes 345 and 235 are double backs.

Mrs. Simmons class did a rain experiment today. They took water, placed shaving cream on top to act as the cloud, and put food coloring on top to act as the rain. They observed that the heavier the food coloring, the quicker the color moved through the shaving cream. They were able to make the connection that the heavier the rain is in a cloud the faster it falls to the ground!

Congratulations to our SRI Reading Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Lee!
