This year, Western Branch Middle School had TWELVE chorus students earn placement into the 2025 All-Virginia Middle School Honor Choir! They had a great time making music with the best musicians from around the state and celebrated with a night out at Dave and Busters! Congratulations, Bruins! #CooksKids
Bruin Bash was a slam dunk! Our annual teacher vs. student basketball game brought the heat and a whole lot of fun—& this year, the teachers took home the win AGAIN! Huge thanks to our amazing PTSA, all the volunteers who made it happen, the players who gave it their all on the court, and the spectators who brought the energy from the stands. It was a great game and an even greater reminder of our awesome Bruin Pride!

After reading the story “BROWN ONIONS” which opens with a cool tale about a song about onions (“GREEN ONIONS” by BOOKER T & the MGs), Mrs. Baker brought in her bass guitar and PLAYED “Green Onions” for our class. And since the story talked about eating WEIRD foods like anchovies with sauerkraut, we did just that—we sampled ANCHOVIES and SAUERKRAUT 🤪
The 6th Grade Band got to experience the Virginia International Tattoo, hosted by the Virginia Arts Festival and sponsored by NATO. Great music and a great display of commraderie and strength among nations!
